Rest shouldn’t have to be a reward. It’s important for your health.
On Day 3 of Women’s Health Week, we’re giving rest the attention it deserves. Getting good sleep is one of the most powerful things you can do for your health – and for many women in Australia, it’s also one of the most difficult things to achieve. Anxiety, perimenopause, pain, shift work and small children – there are so many reasons sleep doesn’t come easily.
But rest goes beyond sleep. It’s the moments in a busy day where you give yourself permission to stop – to lie down, switch off, step outside or simply not be productive for 5 minutes. These moments matter more than we give them credit for.
Today we’re exploring what it looks like to prioritise rest in everyday life. We’ll talk about sleep and what’s normal, what’s not and when it might be time to check in with your doctor. We’ll also share practical strategies for winding down – because a good night’s sleep often starts well before you close your eyes.
Remember, rest isn’t self-indulgent. It’s how your body repairs, resets and keeps going.
