Clinics

If you have a medical emergency, please dial 000. We do not have an emergency service.

Our clinics provide specialist women’s healthcare services, including management of menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, gynaecological and hormone problems, pelvic pain, incontinence, depression, anxiety, vulval disorders, and sexual problems.

Some clinician specialties, such as endocrinologists (hormone specialists) and dermatologists (skin specialists), are in particularly high demand. Please read the following information carefully so we can schedule your appointment as soon as possible and with the right clinician for you.

Appointments with allied health clinicians

If you want to see a dietician, naturopath, physiotherapist or psychologist you do not need a referral. Please call 03 9562 7555 to make an appointment.

Appointments with GPs

If you want to see a specialist women’s health GP you do not need a referral. However, if your medical history is complicated or you have recently had tests that might be relevant to why you want to see a Jean Hailes GP, we recommend a referral from your GP.

Please call 03 9562 7555 to make an appointment.

Appointments with specialists

New patients

If you want to see a Jean Hailes endocrinologist or gynaecologist we need a referral from a GP. Your GP must send this referral to the Jean Hailes Clinics.

All referrals are medically reviewed (“triaged”) to ensure people needing urgent care are seen first, and that they are matched with the best clinician for their needs. Once your referral has been reviewed, we’ll contact you to arrange an appointment time.

Existing patient

Follow-up of existing health issue

If your last appointment was less than 12 months ago and you want a follow-up appointment for the same (existing) health issue with an endocrinologist or gynaecologist in the Jean Hailes Clinics, your original referral is still valid.

Please call 03 9562 7555 to make an appointment directly with the clinics.

If your last appointment was more than 12 months ago and you want a follow-up appointment for the same health issue, you need a new referral from your GP. Your GP must send this referral to the Jean Hailes Clinics.

New health issue

If you have a new health issue that you want to discuss with an endocrinologist or gynaecologist in the Jean Hailes Clinics, you must have a referral for that issue. We cannot accept telephone bookings for existing patients with a new health issue.

This is a Medicare requirement. A new health issue also requires medical review (“triage”) to ensure you receive timely care with a clinician best suited to your new health issue.

Your GP must send this referral to the Jean Hailes Clinics.
