Registered nurse/midwife, clinician, researcher, educator and coordinator of the Canberra Endometriosis Centre at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children within ACT Health. Melissa has developed the PIPPA (Period ImPact and Assessment) tool for identifying menstrual disturbance and possible endometriosis in teenagers from the MDOT (Menstrual Disorder of Teenagers) studies, two large population based investigations of typical and problematic periods in Australian teenagers (2005/2016).
Melissa has also developed a highly innovative nurse-led treatment approach which assists teenagers and women in understanding endometriosis/pelvic pain and treatment options, as well as recognise responsibility for overall health, skill building and self management of chronic illness.
