Jean Hailes for Women's Health has established a Women's Health Policy Alliance and welcomes your involvement to help deliver better health outcomes for all women in Australia.
Jean Hailes has taken a leading role in formulating national women's health policy, including the National Action Plan for Endometriosis and the National Women's Health Strategy 2020-2030 (NWHS). Our involvement has been positively received by federal and state governments, as well as other key stakeholders in women's health.
We are seeking to continue this momentum through the Women's Health Policy Alliance (WHPA), to increase collaboration and coordination across the sector to deliver better health outcomes and a unified approach to policy development, advocacy, policy implementation and reform capability in women's health.
In September 2019, Jean Hailes for Women's Health and the WHPA hosted policy forums focused on the five priorities of the National Women’s Health Strategy 2020-2030 (NWHS). This collaboration continued in October 2019 at the inaugural Jean Hailes Women’s Health Symposium in Canberra, where researchers, clinicians, consumers, consumer advocates, policy makers and the wider community contributed practical ideas on how to implement the NWHS.
In November 2020, Jean Hailes and the WHPA hosted a series of online policy workshops focused on four of the five* priorities of the NWHS.
These workshops provided an opportunity to revisit 2019’s initial recommendations and contribute and exchange ideas on how to implement the NWHS, in light of the impact of COVID-19.
* The workshop on Health Impacts of Violence Against Women and Girls was postponed until 2021.
