Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah L. White PhD as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Sarah is currently the Director of Quit Victoria. She comes to Jean Hailes with extensive global experience in medical research, and public and women’s health across the UK, USA and Australia. As Director of Quit Victoria, Sarah has been at the forefront of their work to minimise harm from tobacco and related products through education, research and policy development, and advocacy. Prior to her role at Quit, Sarah was the Director of Communications and the Foundation at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, and the Director of Communications at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in New York City, USA.
We are proud to welcome a leader of Sarah’s calibre to Jean Hailes. Sarah has a proven track record across a variety of public health remits and is passionate about improving the health of women. She brings a unique skill set in leadership, advocacy, and health education, coupled with a highly contemporary and progressive perspective. Sarah’s expertise in women’s health, together with a focus on the educational role of research and clinical care, will further strengthen our work. Her fresh and energetic approach will carry us forward to ensure the health of all women for generations to come.
On accepting the role Sarah says, “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Jean Hailes team. I have admired their work for many years and I’m excited to be part of an organisation that has such a strong positive impact on the health and wellbeing of girls, women and gender-diverse people in Australia.
One of the reasons I greatly admire Jean Hailes’ work is that it is so strongly founded on evidence, the lived experience of women and, importantly, the organisation’s extensive clinical expertise.
Sarah L. White
I am a strong believer that empowering people with information on women’s health is fundamental to ensuring the good health of families and communities, not just individuals.”
Sarah White will commence her role on 7 November 2022. Janet Michelmore, interim CEO, will remain Patron of Jean Hailes for Women’s Health.
