General information about fees

The Jean Hailes Medical Centres generally do not bulk bill (services provided during COVID-19 are different however, please contact the Jean Hailes Medical Centres for more information on this). Fees charged will vary according to the type of consultation, i.e. length, complexity, involvement of procedures and type of specialist.

For GP and specialist appointments, a rebate can be claimed from Medicare; however, there is usually a gap between doctor's fees and the amount that Medicare will reimburse you. This will result in an out of pocket expense to you.

For allied health appointments, there is no Medicare rebate applicable unless you have a chronic medical condition that is being managed by your GP under a management plan (speak to your GP if you are not sure whether this applies to you).

Payment is required at the time of consultation, after which you can claim your rebate from Medicare. You may pay with cash or by EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

Information regarding fees will be provided when you book an initial appointment or make a query. Please ask the reception staff if you require any additional information. Please check with your private health fund regarding available rebates.

Please call the Jean Hailes Medical Centres for more information on fees: 03 9562 7555.

Please note: Individual clinicians determine their own fees.

Jean Hailes for Women’s Health does not receive government funding, subsidies, philanthropic grants or corporate income to support the management or operation of the Jean Hailes clinics.
