Violence against women is one of the main health determinants for women. Tragically, every week in Australia a woman is killed, in most cases by a partner or former partner.
Addressing the health impacts of violence against women and girls is one of the five priority areas of the National Women's Health Strategy 2020-2030. This will be achieved by raising awareness of the health impacts, addressing them, and co-designing and delivering safe and accessible services for women experiencing family, intimate partner and/or sexual violence.
