Dr Cate Lombard
Dr Cate Lombard is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and Senior Research Fellow in the area of prevention of weight gain and the promotion of healthy lifestyles in women, with the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health Research Unit within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. Her research focuses on prevention of obesity, understanding and promoting healthy eating and physical activity, particularly in high-risk target groups such as young women. Dr Lombard has presented her important award winning research findings at several national and international conferences, published widely in high impact peer reviewed journals in these areas and communicated with the general community through national seminar programs and the through the media.
Dr Lombard is highly experienced in the area of preventive health care, population health and women’s health related to improving both physical activity and nutrition behaviours. Dr Lombard has worked on national and state population and prevention programs. Dr Lombard is interested in practical, low cost solutions to obesity prevention in the community. She has conducted a large randomised controlled low intensity intervention in which she investigated the effectiveness of self management strategies to promote physical activity and healthy eating to prevent weight gain. She is an accredited Dietitian, a member of the Dieitians Association of Australia, guest lecturer at Monash University in nutrition issues related to the menopause and a member of the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) national alliance, and the PCOS clinical guideline development group.
