Dr Marie Misso

Dr Marie Misso is a Senior Evidence Officer with a background in basic research and translating research into practice and policy. Her PhD investigated the molecular mechanisms of metabolic disease and their relationship with estrogen, using mouse and human models. Moving fields, she has gained expertise in research methodology and synthesis of evidence through preparing systematic reviews for various state and federal agencies, supporting federal health policy makers to use evidence in their decision making, and teaching evidence based clinical practice to 2nd and 3rd year medical students and post-graduate students. She is highly experienced in developing evidence based guidelines, having played a key role in guidelines for osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease and polycystic ovary syndrome and advising on the development of evidence based guidelines in the areas of antenatal care and problem gambling. She is an active member of the NHMRC Guideline Network and has contributed to the 2011 NMHRC standard for clinical practice guidelines.
