Jean Hailes education
Jean Hailes educationWe come to you!

As part of our commitment to reach out to women across Australia, Jean Hailes runs a face-to-face community education program. This program involves a guest speaker provided by Jean Hailes presenting an education session for women to attend and learn more about their health. The topic of the presentation depends on the audience, but will usually be one of the following three standard topics:

1. Midlife Health and Wellbeing

  • Healthy lifestyle/health checks
  • What is menopause?
  • Managing symptoms (lifestyle, pharmaceutical therapies & natural therapies)

2. General Health and Wellbeing

  • Healthy lifestyle/health checks
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Diabetes
  • Osteoporosis - Incontinence

3. Osteoporosis: Maintaining Healthy Bones

  • What is osteoporosis?
  • Who is at risk?
  • Prevention and management

A session will generally go for approximately 60 minutes, including a presentation and up to 15 minutes at the end for answering questions. Group size can vary, from as little as 10 to over 100 women. Men are also welcome to attend these events.

The benefit of a face-to-face event is that women have the opportunity to come together and share their experiences as a group. The question and answer session allows the participants to communicate their health concerns to a qualified professional and receive up-to-date, evidence-based information. Although our presenters cannot give personal medical advice, they can answer questions of a more general nature.

The presentations are suitable for community groups, women’s clubs, health professional groups and workplace groups.

In 2011, we presented community education sessions across Victoria and even travelled to South Australia.

We would like to visit more interstate and regional communities in 2012 so if this program interests you, contact the Jean Hailes Education team at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or
