Community webcast outstanding success!

webcast

Our 2010 webcast, 'Making your 40s fabulous' was a huge success with approximately 2,500 people participating Australia-wide. Nearly 500 women watched it at home on their computers and about 2,000 attended one of over 70 community events held by our local partners.

Some of the interesting facts to come out of our evaluation so far:
  • 90% of participants had never watched a webcast before
  • 88% found the registration process easy to understand
  • 84% would watch a webcast again in the future
  • More than 50% of the participants were new to the Jean Hailes Foundation

We owe a great deal of thanks to all our local partners and group organisers who enthusiastically hosted webcast events in their local area. We were so pleased to hear that you embraced the concept of turning the webcast into a celebration of women's health and we have received some fantastic feedback and photos from your events.

General Practitioner Dr Effie Parakilas from Cooma, NSW organised an event for women in her local community. "I invited other health professionals in the town and introduced them and the women really appreciated this; they met counsellors and women's health nurses that they didn't know were in the community, which surprised me. They also commented that they would have loved their husbands to attend!"

Michelle Adern is a nurse who hosted a group in Wodonga, Victoria. "I found it enjoyable but I was nervous, never having done anything like this before. I enjoyed the experience and would do it again. I had a lot of wonderful and positive feedback. I also had offers of assistance for next time. It got people talking about what we are lacking in the area and some suggested we do a women's expo. It provoked great discussion."
