What’s new in education

We are constantly looking at new and innovative ways to reach out to women across Australia. Information technology has become an increasingly important tool in health education and, as we move into 2008, we are looking at further opportunities to effectively deliver the latest evidence-based women’s health information.

for women

Join our live community webcast

We are excited to announce our first community webcast – Life begins at menopause? on 5 March, 2008. Women across Australia will be able to hear the latest on menopause and midlife health, including herbal and hormone management options, emotional health and libido issues and healthy lifestyle tips.

Webstreaming technology will allow women to watch and hear the experts ‘live’ in the comfort of their own home. Why not ask your local community centre to host an event so women can watch together? All that’s required is access to the internet, computer speakers and an email address where you, or your group, will be on the night of the webcast.

You’ll be able to interact with the speakers by emailing questions to be answered by the experts.

See back cover of magazine for information.

Community seminars

Two national community events were held recently. Our first visit to the Top End, working with Family Planning Welfare Association of the Northern Territory, proved a great success with over 100 women attending in Darwin. In Port Macquarie we partnered with North Coast Area Health Service to provide an event that was broadcast live to host sites in surrounding towns, giving more women an opportunity to find out the latest on midlife health.

In 2008 we hope to hold community events in Hobart, Perth and Melbourne. You can keep updated with the latest events and women’s health news by subscribing to our email updates at www.jeanhailes.org.au

Thanks to support from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, our regional Victorian health education program has reached over 1000 women this year, focusing on ageing well and healthy lifestyles.
