National Initiatives
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) has established a National Centre for Monitoring Arthritis and Muskulosceletal Conditions to follow the impact of these conditions and the outcomes of management and prevention strategies. The centre monitors and reports in particular on the four focus areas of osteoarthritis, juvenile arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Arthritis and Osteoporosis in Australia 2008
Arthritis and osteoporosis are among the most common long term chronic health problems in Australia, affecting over 3 millions Australians, and impose a substantial burden on the Australian community. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) has published a report with data and information from a wide variety of sources to provide a picture of arthritis and osteoporosis in Australia. The report addresses policy makers, the broader community, and anyone with an interest in arthritis and osteoporosis.
