The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) announces this year’s annual Louis Waller Lecture, ‘Investing in the earliest start to life’, to be presented by Professor Rob Norman, Director of the Robinson Institute at the University of Adelaide.
Professor Norman’s lecture, on Thursday 1 September, will focus on health and other factors that affect conception and the development of embryos. Dangers to the embryo in its early stages of development and the risk factors of obesity, smoking, environmental agents, age and occupation will be addressed.
The lecture will also encompass personal and community interventions to maximize the chances of a healthy pregnancy, and the role of assisted reproductive treatment units in lifestyle education for ART patients.
