Online technology helping Australian women learn about menopause
What do you do if you live thousands of kilometers from the city and you want to access updated and reliable information on an often sensitive subject such as menopause?
For the first time Australian women can access the latest information from Australian women’s health experts in a free and interactive forum directly from their home computer.
Leading women’s health organisation the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health is using the latest technology in a bid to reach out to Australian women and provide the latest evidence-based information on an issue close to many women’s hearts - menopause.
To access this webcast, called Life Begins at Menopause? you will need a computer, speakers and access to the internet. Registrations are now open for this free event being held on March 5. There is also the opportunity to have your questions answered by leading menopause experts.
You will need to register at www.jeanhailes.org.au to watch the event in the comfort of your own home. Why not invite your girlfriends and make it a celebration or join in one of many community events taking place across the country, particularly in regional areas.
Foundation gynaecologist Dr Elizabeth Farrell will brief women on the latest evidence-based information on options for menopause symptoms “Many women are confused about what options are available, what is safe, effective and right for them,” says Dr Farrell. “ Each woman’s experience is unique and the nature and symptoms will vary greatly,” she says.
Foundation psychologist Dr Mandy Deeks will talk about emotional health, relationships and libido – big issues for many women. Foundation naturopath Sandra Villella will focus on complementary therapies and how to incorporate healthy eating and being active into your daily life.
