On Wednesday, 6 February 2008 the hosting company that is used by the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health to manage mailing lists, was undertaking a hardware upgrade. This upgrade involved the migration of the Foundation mailing lists to a new server.
During the migration an automated default function of the software was activated, sending each list member an unintended "welcome" message containing a non-required password.
According to the hosting company, activation of the automated default function was not expected to happen and the hosting company has apologised for any inconvenience this has caused.
The hosting company has assured the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health that no privacy issues were compromised.
