Women will have the opportunity to hear leading experts speak on issues related to healthy ageing on Thursday October 25 at Sandilands Restaurant and Reception Centre, Portland.

National organisation, the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health, has joined with Portland District Health to bring expert women’s health speakers to the local community. The day is sponsored by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and members of the Veteran community are most welcome to attend.

The evening will include a wealth of information and practical tips on living and ageing well, including a naturopath’s perspective.

Speakers include GP Dr Marnie Newman and naturopath Sandra Villella from the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health, as well as Rachael Ryan, Health Promotion Officer at Portland District Health.

Naturopath Sandra Villella says that women coming along on the evening will have the opportunity to hear about choices and options, as well as the things they can do to help themselves to live a healthy and fulfilling life. “It’s very important that we take small, sustainable steps to lead us to a lifetime of good health and quality of life”, says Sandra.  “There is much we can do for ourselves to ensure that our health is on track as we age.”

The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health is an independent, not-for-profit health foundation, largely funded by the federal government and private donations. The Foundation cares for the health and wellbeing of Australia’s five million women aged 35 plus.

For bookings call (03) 5522 1180. Cost is a gold coin donation at the door.

The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health will also be running a lunchtime session for Health Professionals on October 25 at Portland District Health on the “Assessment of the Well Woman”, presented by Dr Marnie Newman.
