Sexual dysfunction affects the quality of life of some 30-60% of women. The physical and emotional aspects impact not only on the women concerned, but relationaships as well. Dr Sonia Davison and Dr Mandy Deeks discuss the various aspects of sexual function and androgens in women.

Dr Sonia Davison MBBS, FRACP  
An Endocrinologist at the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health, and NH&MRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Women’s Health Program, Alfred Hospital, Monash University with interests in gynaecological and general endocrinology.

Dr Sonia Davison and Dr Mandy DeeksDr Mandy Deeks BEd., ATCL, Grad Dip Psych., PhD, MAPS
A psychologist at the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health and author, Mandy specialises in the areas of early menopause, menopause and midlife, libido, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and body image.

Topics include:

  • Female sexual dysfunction
  • Androgen production in women
  • Endogenous androgens
  • Use of exogenous androgens (testosterone): postmenopausal and premenopausal women
  • Psychological aspects of libido
  • Strategies to address libido in a multidisciplinary framework 

Note: The studies referred to in this presentation have all finished recruitment and results are currently awaiting publication.
