Women in West Heidelberg and surrounding areas have the opportunity to hear leading experts speak on midlife women’s health on the evening of Wednesday September 5 at 21 Alamein Road in West Heidelberg.
National organisation, the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health has joined with Banyule Community Health Service in this initiative aimed at educating women on midlife women’s health. The day is sponsored by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and members of the Veteran community are welcome to attend.
Women attending can expect to hear relevant, reliable and researched information and practical tips about midlife health, menopause, treatment of symptoms including herbal and hormone therapies, and self-management strategies including healthy eating, physical activity and emotional health and wellbeing.
Speakers include GP Dr Marnie Newman and naturopath Sandra Villella from the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health, as well as a local speaker from Banyule Community Health.
“It is so important for women to have the opportunities to explore their health options so they can think about their own needs and make choices that are right for them,” says Dr Marnie Newman. “So many things have an effect on our wellbeing. It’s great to know there is so much we can do ourselves to change our health and wellbeing.”
The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health is an independent, not-for-profit health foundation, largely funded by the federal government and private donations. The Foundation cares for the health and wellbeing of Australia’s five million women aged 35 plus.
Cost is a gold coin donation at the door.
