Consultant Gynaecologists and Endocrinologists (hormone specialists) are doctors who have trained to become specialists in their respective fields. All are Fellows of their respective Royal Australian College.

Many of our clinic doctors are internationally renowned, high profile experts in their respective fields, having published articles in medical journals, and/or written books on women’s health. Many are involved in the education of medical students and doctors in the community, and have initiated groundbreaking research into specific women’s health issues.

Procedures

The Centre provides special facilities to cater for such procedures as insertion of hormone implants, insertion of IUD's, Pap test and Thin Prep tests (all of which are forwarded to the Pap Test Registry) and insertion of contraceptive devices (implanon).

Investigations such as bone density, mammograms, and blood tests are arranged by the doctor when relevant to your individual health needs.

Communication

If your GP has referred you to one of our specialists, your doctor will receive a letter about your condition and management.

If you see one of our GPs, a letter will be forwarded to your local doctor at your request.

Telephone access: Whilst our medical staff will generally be unable to take calls when consulting, they will be able to return your call at the end of their session for urgent matters.

Please remember that it is often in your best interests to arrange an appointment rather than dealing with a problem over the phone.

Referrals

You do not require a referral to see one of our GPs. However, all specialist appointments require a referral from your doctor. This ensures that your doctor will receive a report, and enables you to receive the maximum Medicare rebate.

It is illegal for doctors to backdate a referral.

New problems require new referrals, however a return visit for the same condition will only require a new referral if more than 12 months have elapsed.

Appointments

We make every effort to give patients appointments as promptly as possible.

If you have an issue that you feel is urgent, please either talk to your local doctor or ask to speak to one of the doctors at the Centre who will arrange an early appointment, if required.

Confirmation of Appointments

Due to the demand for appointments, all patients are asked to phone and confirm their appointments at least five days prior to attending.

Occasionally it may be necessary to re-schedule an appointment.

Cancellation of Appointments

We would appreciate notification within 24 hours if you are unable to keep your appointment.

The demand for appointments at this Centre is high and we need time to contact patients who may be waiting for an appointment.

A cancellation fee of $50.00 may apply for non-attendance without cancellation.

Prescriptions

  • Under certain circumstances repeat prescriptions may be available by mail
  • This is conditional upon the clinician's judgement.
  • A stamp, self-addressed envelope requesting previously prescribed medication (including exact type and dose) is required.
  • It may take up to two weeks to recieve scripts.
  • The script will not be dispensed if it has been more than six months since your last appointment.

Infection Control

All instruments are scrubbed, autoclaved and packed in sealed surgical packs. Disposable materials are not re-used.

All surgical wastes and sharps are disposed of by a specialist medical waste disposal company.

Results of Investigations

Your doctor will arrange to either post a summary of your results to you, contact you by telephone or arrange a follow up appointment to discuss results.

If you have a query about your results, please make an appointment to discuss any issues further.

Fees

Fees charged will vary according to the type of consultation, i.e. length, complexity, involvement of procedures etc. Individual doctors may also vary their fees. It will cost more to see a specialist compared to a GP, obviously reflecting the difference in complexity of problems and specialised skills required.

This practice does not routinely bulk bill. Clinicians may decide to charge cardholders (Veteran Affairs, Health Care card, Pension Cards) the Government Schedule Fee, which will incur a small out of pocket cost to you. Others with financial difficulties should discuss this with the clinician at the time of their first visit.

For medical consultations, a rebate can be claimed from Medicare, and as the government Medicare system dictates there is usually a gap between doctors fees and the amount that Medicare will reimburse you. This will result in an out of pocket expense to you.

A rebate can be claimed from Medicare for the Mental Health Care Plan, however for all other Allied Health consultations, patients are advised to check with their Private Health Insurance provider

Payment is required at the time of consultation. You may pay your account with cash or by using Eftpos. We accept VISA, Mastercard and AMEX.

We are able to process your Medicare claim electronically so that the Medicare rebate is deposited into your bank account or a cheque is mailed to you without you having to visit a Medicare branch.

A detailed list of medical services and fees is available.
