Overcoming the barriers of language, culture and the tyranny of distance shape how the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health responds to the complexity of health issues with which women in Australia must deal. Our model of resource development is built around listening and responding to community needs.
As chronic diseases often take a number of years to develop, the Foundation recognises the benefit of having program delivery firmly centred in the community with our ongoing support. Health promotion and disease prevention activities are most beneficial if they occur over a life span and people are encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles from an early age.
Accessibility and cultural diversity issues are critical success factors for the Foundation. We seek to interact with communities on their territory, using terms and language they understand to give projects the best possible chance for ongoing impact.
We are delighted to support and work with any groups wanting to present information seminars on women's health issues. We have developed many close links and partnerships throughout Australia to present our these programs in collaboration with local community groups.
