The Women's Reference Group meets on an 'as needs' basis and depending on project requirements.

Aims

The Women's Reference Group provides information and advice from a consumer perspective, which enhances the role and work of The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health. The Group aims to be broadly representative of a range of women from the community. It is a politically neutral group and not a vehicle for other organisations' agendas.

Outline

The Women's Reference Group is made up of women aged between 45-65 who are mid-life or peri-menopausal. Recruiting methods targeted the following: women who have attended previous workshops, JHF volunteers, women from culturally diverse background and "professional consumers".

The objectives of the program are as follows:

  • To give comment on current and future programs and activities of Jean Hailes Foundation
  • To advise on the program content and planning of education sessions particularly community information sessions and seminars
  • To provide on the design and readability of resources developed by Jean Hailes Foundation
  • To advocate on behalf of women on relevant health issues The Group aims to be broadly representative of a range of women from the community.

It is a politically neutral group and not a vehicle for other organisations' agendas. Everything discussed in the group is confidential. Committee members can leave the group at any time providing they give adequate notice to the Project Officer.

Registration of Interest

The Group has a maximum of ten members. However, the Foundation would be interested in hearing from women who may be interested in contributing to the Group.

Women who are interested may send in an expression of interest survey. While there is a maximum of ten members, some members inevitably drop out to personal or work commitments. We would contact those who have registered an interest if a vacancy occurs.
