Partnership a boost for rural women’s health
Victorian medical practitioners in rural and remote locations will soon be given the latest information on women’s health via workshops organised by two leading organisations.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health and Melbourne Pathology.
The organisations will work together to reach women in the broader Victorian community on the latest research and developments in women’s health.
In another initiative, information will be collected by both organisations to provide a barometer of women’s health and wellbeing – a unique tool to help adapt health programs to meet Victorian women’s needs.
David Pinkus, CEO of Melbourne Pathology, said the partnership would be an ongoing program involving research and regional seminars for health professionals and the community.
“Valuable information will be gleaned from this type of initiative and we look forward to joining forces to expand Victoria’s understanding of women’s health,” Mr Pinkus said.
Melbourne Pathology is an independent, medically-managed practice with 26 specialist pathologists providing services across the state.
The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health is a national, not-for-profit organisation. It focuses on the health and wellbeing of five million Australian women aged 35 plus. Key areas covered include:
the education of women and health professionals;
specialist clinical care and
ground-breaking medical research.
“We want to create healthier lives for women. This powerful partnership will enrich our knowledge of women’s health and will ensure medical professionals across the state are up to speed,” said Dr Helena Teede, Research Director of the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women’s Health.
